Bringing God's Slaughtered Children To The
Winter Olympics (Christian
Gallery News Service, Feb 17, 2002) From the first week of February
throughout the duration of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City Utah, a
contingent of front line prolife veterans is making certain that the legions
of people visiting the Olympics do not forget that babies are being legally
slaughtered on a daily basis in the United States of America and across the
world. Following is a report from Ken
and Jo Scott with pictures and text that give you a view into the powerful
work for the Lord Jesus Christ going on in Salt Lake City, Utah. THE
OLYMPIC TORCH IN SALT LAKE CITY
MIRACLES HAPPEN FROM THE START We
arrived in Utah on the 7th of February.
We decided to tour Salt Lake City to get a lay of the land and, as God
would have it, we saw a parade passing in front of us. At first we thought it was a PETA animal
rights protest parade so--for obvious reasons--we pulled our vans into the
line of vehicles making up the parade and became a part of it.
TURNS
OUT IT WASN'T A PETA PARADE AT ALL.
IT WAS THE TORCH PARADE THAT WAS USHERING IN THE ENTIRE WINTER
OLYMPICS!!!! The
PETA people were incensed. PETA moved
as far away from us as they could get and still be in the parade. The
people lining the parade route did not know what to think. Ken
and I were in the Van and we were the third vehicle in the parade! The
Torch Parade lasted 2 and one half hours.
We drove slow like in a funeral procession at about 2 miles per hour
and the parade covered miles. We
found out later that CNN broadcast pictures of the van. We don't have pictures of that, but Jason,
a friend that was with us has video.
I'll see if he can send you a clip. We
figured we passed at least 25,000 to 30,000 at a minimum. Is
that an awesome example of how God is simply refusing to allow this nation to
ignore His children that are being legally slaughtered here?! Most
Utah Police Were Sympathetic
The
police were very sympathetic to our cause.
It was as though we were in the Twilight Zone. Some of the officers asked for literature,
some thought that abortions didn't take place in their state, and most said
thank you for what you are doing.
There were a few that were not receptive to our message and we dealt
with them.
In
some of the pictures you'll see cops in black and yellow jackets in front of
the Utah Women's Center. They had us
go onto clinic property with them for pictures, while we held our signs. One baby was saved at the Utah Women's
Clinic. PROTESTING AT
THE OLYMPIC EVENTS
Every
day in Salt Lake and Park City there were events that drew thousands of people. Security was so tight that lines formed
for blocks and blocks. We made sure
we were there with our signs. THE WORLD'S DEADLIEST TERRORIST
One such event was an outdoor concert starring the Beach
Boys. People were everywhere for
blocks just sitting and listening. Our van and Ron Brock's van took the
opportunity to circle the crowd for the entire time. VIOLENT BLOODY INJUSTICE WILL NOT BE
IGNORED IN THE USA!
We
spent a lot of time at the Mormon Temple.
We held the big graphic signs and handed out prolife literature and
gospel tracts for hours on end. At
the same time our van was parked strategically while the truth truck and Ron
Brock's van circled the entire area. CHRISTIANS CAME HERE FROM ALL OVER THE USA! God
has sent Christians from all over the country to Utah. Everywhere you look on the streets, in the
malls, at restaurants, you see Christians passing out gospel tracts. It was a joy to see. All of the Christians were in favor of
what we were doing.
SLOC
(Salt Lake Olympic Committee), Planned Parenthood, and the Red Cross, along
with the Mayor of Salt Lake collaborated to distribute safe sex kits to all
the athletes and anyone who walked into a Red Cross tent in Olympic
Park. One of the Generation Life
kids, 14 years old, walked into a tent and she was offered the safe kit
before she even asked for it. The
kits were a focus for some of our pickets and so was the blood doping. It used to be that an athlete would get a
blood transfusion before his/her event to raise their red blood count. There is a test for that now and the
athlete is disqualified if discovered.
Now women athletes are getting pregnant and aborting before the event
because the red blood count elevates drastically in the first few weeks of
the pregnancy. It's the new way to
cheat and get away with it. It's
horrifying. PLANNED PARENTHOOD IN UTAH GETS A WAKE UP
CALL
Utah
Planned Parenthood was totally shocked when we showed up. No one had ever picketed them before. They called the police, but they were told
what we were doing was legal.
In
Salt Lake we were able to picket with the large signs, Olympic Square was a
different story. They've had an
ordinance there since the 80's that say's that you can't carry a sign over
2'x3'. Pat Mahoney along with a new
youth prolife group called Generation Life challenged the ordinance, so it
will go to court sometime in the future.
We
are leaving in the morning to go back until Thursday. We'll send you more pictures when we get
